For the past six years, in my change Cambodia essay, my projectile as a change agent was through academic based. However, I never fully confident in what I wrote because those explorations were the facilitators’ idea. Furthermore, I want to produce my own protein: which is having my own idea. Thus, this year I will give you a new taste− non-academic and money-free.
I was named “Miss Little Dream” from my math teacher for being connected to the project little dream organization that has shaped who I am today.
Over this holiday, I volunteer for two and a half weeks for a position to help with anything. Because technology skill is low in my village I have helped with inputting the book’s data into the library system and help anything as I possibly could. Then, I got a position to be a teacher for a day. I, then, rename as their teacher which they pronounce it shortly as “cher”.
I have a passion for entrepreneurship because it involves both skills of being a problem solver and innovative to change solve a variety of problems that could change a country and the world. A program called Mekong Business Plan was a competition based on solving the social problem which the criteria are to shoot a three-minute video that would explain your business and submit online to business judges. I work with one of my friends, Vito to solve a problem of building the passion for kids in primary school to comprehend the value of education and how they would use it in the future. This was an idea of when I visited my dad and my sister blamed about how her study is lack of control from the teacher and the support to use that knowledge in changing their own country and the world. Also, her house is too far from the city that could access to a multitude of schools and higher quality, I guessed. However, I saw the enthusiasm in my sister and other kids who spend lots of money and time to travel a far distance for the sake of their learning. Thus, I want to build this school that is relaxing in a tent with teacher and student will learn as their part-time school and receive an experience that improves on their skills to be a problem solver to develop their community of course. I have more ideas before but it doesn’t state to specific areas and the need from people. Thus, I chose this to represent my passion as a student and my passion to help grow more generation to develop my country.

In 2015, I participated in Technovation, global girl technology competition, with an idea of building an app to help farmer find the market. Based on our effort, we passed to the semi-finalist. Afterward, we joined the Technovation 2016 with an intention to receive the judges’ feedbacks on our idea because we wanted to develop it into a real solution. My team name is LiGeek and the app is called ImEx, import & export. The second chance of competing with other girls, we won a national pitch and receive a price of $200 with an Ipad. However, I didn’t give up on my idea because, currently, I am working on developing the idea into a stage that solves the farmer’s issue with finding a market. As a participant in Technovation and being a coder of the team, I positively believe that girls could code. I am a suspicious person with technology, yet I got a fear in believing that girl can’t code. Also, the percent of coders in my school are boys. Thus, I decided to forsake that dream. Nevertheless, currently, I am not an advanced coder, but I believe I could code and use these skills to solve the society’s issues. Lastly, I want girls to believe in themselves and take a move in anything they like without thinking about the gender stereotypes.
A film called First They Killed My Father, directed by Angelina Jolie, was filmed in Cambodia for three months. I was one of the main character’s family name Keav, the biggest sister. In order to receive this role, I had to pass the cast acting test and compete with other Cambodians. This stupendous opportunity wasn’t about being in the film, but I was representing all Cambodian’s life during the genocide, especially the Loung’s family. This movie premiere in Cambodia was on February 20th to 23th in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Battambang. Then, there was another premiere is in New York on 16 of September. During the event, I met other actors such as John Voight, Angelina Jolie’s dad and actor, and Charles Smith, the NBA basketball player. From this experience of being an actor in this memorial movie is the biggest achievement to shows the world of Cambodia history, as well as, passing the message that genocide causes thousands of death and separation that most of the Cambodians will never forget. However, most importantly, the family in the movie are contemporary becomes my new family with our love from working together and take care of each other. Furthermore, I learned about Khmer Rouge before I involved in the movie, although I receive tons of information, being a part of the film was like being there during the Khmer Rouge genocide.
In August of 2017, I visited Children’s Surgical Centre, located in Phnom Penh. We got a tour around the whole hospital, as well as, saw the real situation when a little kid got a surgery which was scary. Though, this organization mainly specified on surgery, however, they provided the free-services for all Cambodians in any diseases due to their ability. Furthermore, they found a new disease called “Scoliosis”, a spine becomes curved sideway like letter S, that proposed from the Director of the organization in requesting for the help from the Liger’s students to spread out the word to most of the Cambodians to acknowledge as their past experience faced most of the patients that have this disease and needed to get surgery due to their lack of education. As a change agent, most of the Liger’s student used their time during the holiday to present the information in different schools and villages. This experience of presenting to different government schools was one of my best moment in being a change agent because I could feel the real change that this will help to save people’s life.
On August, 17th to 20th of 2017, I was in a frisbee competition in Manilla, Philippine with other Cambodia’s representative players. My whole team was trained for a three month-course from local coaches and international frisbee players. In order to form a team, there was a selection noticed by the coach based on the person potential, effort and determination. I got selected and other five Liger girls. The team name is Yak Or. There were thousands of people with around a hundred teams. I couldn’t believe to be a participant at the age of 14 years old that would compete with those professionals and international players. The whole weekend of playing frisbee was a marvelous adventure for me in exploring how international competition is like and, most importantly, increase my utilities in playing frisbee. From this experience, I comprehend that boy and girl team were having their own technique of playing. Most of the man team are most likely to pass a far-distance for scoring. Which the girl team made a short pass and did a lot of fakes. Moreover, as a mixed team experience boy didn’t pass so much to the girl, however, unless the boy understands the girl’s ability in receiving the catch. Yet, my highlights in playing frisbee are to have a strong collaboration and most of the time you are learning from your mistakes.
Last year, 2016, the Seniors worked on a waste management project in Exploration class. The business managed to make compost to sell to farmers. This exploration encompassed all change agent characteristics that we had in Liger such as, There were four different explorations and I was the third one that works with an organization called Little Heart. Little Heart has a project call CAKE, stands for Clean-up Archetype for Kids & Environment, that helped to clean up the Akreiy Ksatr area which every week the students collected about 35 tons of garbage from 1200 households. Afterward, Akreiy Ksatr turned to be a new clean community, however, as an orphanage, Little Heart couldn’t afford to maintain this business sustainable because there is no income. Thus, my team proposes them a business idea to get the villagers to pay and their job is to collect those waste house by house. Of all the collected data from interviewing the villagers to project the potential of this business, a group of 12 Liger students wrote a proposal to the Ministry of Environment to allow this orphanage to collect their own trash and have their own landfill in Akreiy Ksatr Commune. Then, the proposal was approved by the Ministry, which we got a big thank you from Little Heart. Based on this experience, the Liger students had supported and helped their country to have a better environment.
This book has distrbuted to the government school and non-government school. Each of my team put a big afford in their sectors. We are blissful to write about our own country economy and help our people to know that too.
